Alhamdulillah, the ISB Resident Scholar Search Committee comprised of 30+ diverse community members, in coordination with the Al-Rahmah Qur’an Academy Board and the ISB Council are pleased to announce that ISB has now hired Sheikh Ismet Akcin to join our current team of Resident Scholars as an Imam of the Islamic Society of Baltimore. He will be starting with the community this week insha’Allah. Sh. Ismet is an 18 year experienced Imam and Dynamic Scholar who will be a great addition to our community. Originally from Turkey, Sh. Ismet comes with a Degree in Sharia from Al-Azhar University and most recently a Master’s Degree in Inter-Disciplinary Studies from the Niagara University in New York. He completed his Hifdth and Alimiyah schooling in Turkey before moving to Egypt to Study Shariah and Qiraa under world renowned Sh. Ahmed Nuaina.
We would like to invite you all to a special Welcome The Imam event this coming Friday, January 5th, at ISB after ISHA Salah (8:00 PM). Bring your friends and family and make Sh. Ismet feel welcome. We will Insha’Allah have some special Turkish Sweets and Refreshments served at the event.
