Changes for Jumuah & Dhuhr Prayers – Islamic Society of Baltimore

As’salamu Alaikum,

Starting December 1st, there will be a temporary change for Jumuah due to the ongoing school year for the Al-Rahmah School Students.

In order to maintain the safety and privacy of our young students as they experience Jumuah with their Muslim peers, we will be separating the students from the rest of the congregation inshaAllah.

To carry this out, for the time being, the upstairs’ musullah and the rest of the 3rd floor will be closed to the public during all 3 Jumuah time slots, for the sake of our students.

During this time span, the AQA wing on the 2nd floor will be reserved for sisters to pray Jumuah, with overflow space available at all times to brothers and sisters in the gym space, also on the 2nd floor. Additional rooms will be allotted for ease of access for those with strollers and for those who would like to listen to the khutbah but are not praying Jumuah.

Additionally, to maintain this separation for our students, the top floor will also be closed for Dhuhr prayer during the school week, and sisters will be directed to pray in the downstairs musullah with a space allotted for them inshaAllah.

We thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this transitional time period.

Once winter break begins, we will return to the regular format for Jumuah inshaAllah. Stay tuned for updates on what the format will be when winter break ends inshaAllah.

May Allah (SWT) reward you for helping to make jummah safer for the next generation of young Muslims. If you have any questions or concerns, please email office[at]isb.org

Jazakallahu Khairan,
Islamic Society of Baltimore
