The Golden Age Activity Center at ISB is happy to announce the “Writing Memory Pictures” workshop for older adults in the community.
What:
This writing session will provide inspiration to document memories and legacies. One of the gifts of the Golden Age is the ability to discern events and understand the world in a new light. Penning down these thoughts would document this wisdom for generations to come.

When: Wednesdays starting  July 6 to 28 from 2 to 3 pm

We will start our first session by talking and writing about old family photographs, scenery or anything that brings back fond memories. Over four weeks, we will together create what may become the beginning of a memoir/biography.

The session will be conducted in English but writing and class support can be facilitated in Urdu, as well.

Who:
The instructor for this workshop is Saima Adil Sitwat, she is a writer and educator based in Baltimore, Md. Saima is an instructor at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Towson University and University of Pittsburgh, and Renaissance Institute at Notre Dame of Maryland University. She is the author of her memoir American Muslim: An Immigrant’s Journey. The book has been recently shortlisted for William Saroyan International Prize for Writing at Stanford University and also received an Honorable Mention at San Francisco Book Festival Awards 2021. You can access Saima’s complete bio, details of her memoir, writings and speaking engagement on her website: https://saimasitwat.com
***If you wish to participate, please email Golden Age Committee your name and phone number by July 4th.
